Absconding Swarm Lured into Home Depot Box Caught Video
Queen & many workers decided to leave the cut out & swarm to oak tree. I placed 3 swarm lure hives in patient home owners yard & after 6 days my improvised Home Depot swarm lure catch appealed to colony. They moved in & noticeably had the box leaning to left side.
Came back toward Thursday evening & lowered box & sealed entrance but top was opened a bit so sugar sprayed to keep few curious ones busy & on box. Kept outta the light to not stimulate & placed in trunk & made special delivery. Will rejoin w/ their cutout hive Friday.

@jannassary I made it 3/4 to 1 inch but you could make it larger & then use 1/2" x 1/2" wire screening so that birds & squirrels can not move in. If your using styrofoam coolers or cardboard boxes it will not matter as squirrels can &? have chewed up my swarm lures of those materials.

@Scott1844 Yes had drone comb from this hives cut out, in Home Depot box. All 3 hives were similar volume, but this one the highest & nearest to their swarm in neighboring? oak tree. Honestly I can speculate till the cows come home, but why they choose this box could be numerous factors. Just give the bees many choices the better.
Did you have any ...
Did you have any drawn comb in the box? Were all the boxes the same in terms of size and make up? In your judgement, why did? the bees select that box over the other two boxes?
